Late Leader Joyce Mashamba remembered

SACP will have another commemoration service this month

ANC leader Rodgers Monama has hailed Happy Joyce Mashamba as “an outstanding leader of the SACP, a versatile revolutionary, a colossal mind and a consummate intellectual whose leadership values signify unimpeachable integrity and unassailable credibility, a unique rarity.”

Monama was representing the ANC on the province at the Joyce Mashamba commemoration event held at Mulamula village on Saturday organised by the South African Communist Party Alpheus Malivha District.
The late Mashaba died in June 2018 at the age of 67.
She had been a liberation stalwart with her husband George Mashaba and we’re both incarcerated by the apartheid government for their fight against apartheid.

Monama also hailed her as ” an oasis of unity, an oracle of political clarity and a reservoir of wisdom.”
He said in honour of her legacy, her comrades needed to unite and service communities.
Limpopo premier and SACP deputy chairperson Phophi Ramathuba earlier talked at the gravesite where they laid a wreath on the late leader’s grave.

She paid to the late leader and said people should do well to remember her legacy.
Limpopo’s MEC for education Mavhungu Lerule Ramakhanya who is the SACP’s treasurer was the keynote speaker.
She talked of the many gains of freedom as coming from the sacrifices of leader like Joyce Mashamba.
She said the wreath laying event was the first of the two legs to honour the late leader.
“The second leg will be held in October and will be addressed by the general secretary of the Party Silly Mapaila,” she said.

She also praised the late Mashamba’s husband George Mashamba for wanting to continue his late wife’s legacy.
“We must support the orphans and the vulnerable and in that way we shall be representing comrade Joyce well,” she said.
Contralesa Vhembe chairperson Prince Gulukhulu Mathebula also talked and supported the SACP in remembering one of their own.
