Freedom Park hails fallen icon Professor Muxe Gessler Nkondo

Freedom Park has not been left behind but has joined millions of South Africans and the international community in mourning the late distinguished scholar Professor Muxe Gessler Nkondo.Professor Nkondo who was the last surviving child of the late legendary school principal Ephraim Nkondo of Pfukani (old M’tititi) died on Sunday aged 83.In the message sent through The Village Voice, Freedom Park sent messages of condolences to the Nkondo family and praised the late leader for the outstanding role he played while on earth.”He was a distinguished scholar and visionary leader who had an enduring impact on the preservation of heritage, culture and indigenous knowledge systems in South Africa,” said the park in a statement issued by CEO Dr Jane Mufamadi.

It added”As we mourn, we also celebrate he’s extraordinary life and the indelible input he made in preserving heritage”, it said.It nailed his role in shaping the park’s mission and legacy.It credited him in having helped draft the park’s key documents.It also hails him for having represented the park in various platforms.He also played a role in the park’s memorialisation concept and framework, a document showing the institution’s efforts in preserving and honouring the nation’s heritage.Professor Nkondo will be laid to rest on Friday.The funeral service will take place at the Freedom Park Heritage and Museum in Pretoria.
